Sure they all take antisub MH-60R's with them, but all we end up doing most of the time is marking surface contacts and making sure that a motor boat full of fertilizer or RPG's does not get to close. The carriers are not designed for ship to ship battle, but as a mobile airbase to attack land based targets. Most of our the USA's ships are detterents, and strike platforms. If you were to just take into account the actual combat aspects it would be wierd. Carrying millions of gallons of fuel and resupplying ever few days so you never get close to dry would not make an exciting war game because you would constantly just be moving planes and helicopters from the hanger bay to the flight deck.Īs a hardcore sim type game it could be fun for the right kind of crowd though if it focused on one super carrier. The most hectic stuff going on is moving aircraft to make sure there is room for the next event.

You can ask ops guys later if we did well or not, but for the most part the only difference I noticed was that we had to keep helo's in the air longer.Ī true simulator from the carriers perspective would play out like an Air Traffic Control Simulator. When we do month long exercises, and work with other countries to do things, most people on board have no Idea whats going on (my experience is mostly on carriers). Another game mode would be starting and staying at the era of your choice.!īeing in the Navy i would have to say that simulated naval combat is boring as hell. There would be multiple game modes, one where you start at the WW1 era and as time passes, lets say in 20 minute intervals, the tech increases by 10 years, you will still have your older ships but also have access to more advanced designs. You could have your fleet and command it top down or thrid person, OR you could command a vessel by directly dropping onto the bridge in a first person mode, commanding the fleet with the Bridge and instruments on that ship. MY dream game would be an RTS Naval warfare game, with units starting at the WW1 Era of technology, with research ending at Modern Era(2014-2020) Vessels and weapons. I know they may not be the most popular genre but i mean, its like NOONE has an interest in buying or making a naval strategy game! I havent seen a really developed and good naval game since Battlestations:Midway and Pacific. I know their is War thunders naval expansion and wargaming's World of Warships, but those 2 are pretty far off. /r/GamePhysics - Clips of game physics shining and glitchingĭesign based on /r/FlatBlue created by /u/creesch./r/gaming4gamers - middle ground between purely-for-fun and more serious subreddits./r/GamingLeaksAndRumours - Leaks and Rumors.Posting unmarked spoilers will result in removal and warning, and posting spoilers with malicious intent will result in a ban.
